Retention is the only metric that matters

Retention is the definitive proof that you're creating real value. Look for a retention curve that flattens over time rather than decaying to zero. Even better, look for a 'smile curve' where engagement increases over time due to network effects or accumulated data. If users aren't coming back, you haven't achieved PMF regardless of what other metrics say.
